LIBYA —-— The Indonesian delegation participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) international humanitarian land mission is reportedly still in Libya after the convoy was temporarily halted due to the ongoing security concerns along the transit route on Monday (May 19, 2026). The group is currently positioned at the crossing point between western Libya and the route leading to eastern Libya, awaiting further developments in negotiations and decisions from the international committee.
These conditions have forced the delegates to temporarily halt their movement while awaiting developments on the ground. Despite limited communication and logistical access, the delegates continue to strive to provide updates to their families, the public, and Indonesian diplomatic representatives.
Imam Al Faruk, the Indonesian delegate in the GSF Land Convoy organized by Dompet Dhuafa, who is traveling on the Khan Younes Bus, stated that the situation on the ground remains dynamic and that all delegates are required to follow security guidelines while in the area. The convoy is also reported to be awaiting the results of further coordination regarding potential next movements.

According to reports received from the delegation on the ground, the security situation has become increasingly dynamic after security personnel from western Libya ceased accompanying the convoy. Meanwhile, access to the next route remains restricted, so the group has been asked to hold their movements while awaiting the results of communications and negotiations conducted by the GSF committee with local authorities.
The delegation also expressed concerns regarding security conditions at several checkpoints leading to Sirte. Based on information received on the ground, there is a potential for security obstacles if the convoy forces its way to the next region. Additionally, the security situation in some areas is reportedly not yet fully stable due to the presence of armed groups near the transit routes.

However, various pieces of information regarding the situation are still being verified due to limited communication access and rapidly changing conditions on the ground.
Meanwhile, based on coordination with the Global Overland Relief Convoy Steering Committee (SC), the international organizing committee is still monitoring developments and considering strategic steps to determine the next course of action. Several parties have also warned of potential security risks if the journey continues under current conditions. Therefore, all measures taken are said to prioritize the safety of the entire international delegation involved in the humanitarian convoy.
Amid these challenging conditions, delegates from various countries are reported to be in good health. The GSF overland convoy comprises a diverse group of humanitarian volunteers from various professions, including doctors, nurses, teachers, cooks, and engineers, who are bringing aid and solidarity to the people of Gaza, Palestine.
GSF also emphasized that this mission is an international humanitarian movement involving various countries and global civil society organizations to call for the opening of humanitarian access to Gaza. In one of the internal messages circulating among the delegation, it was noted that the international community’s attention to the Gaza blockade situation must be sustained.
“If in the end they reject our offer and divert the aid to a ship bound for Egypt, then the world must understand that Eastern Libya and Egypt are refusing to lift the blockade. We must take action to ensure the world pays attention to this situation.”
The delegates also urged the Indonesian public to continue voicing humanitarian support for Palestine and to pray for the safety of all delegates currently carrying out the mission. As a gesture of this concern, humanitarian donations can be made through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/jagapalestina to support the continuation of aid for the Palestinian people. (Dompet Dhuafa)
