Dompet Dhuafa and Tokopedia Distribute Aid to Flood Survivors in Lubuk Minturun

PADANG, WEST SUMATRA —-— As of today, Tuesday (12/09/2025), the death toll from flash floods in three provinces on the island of Sumatra, namely Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, stands at 962 people. Meanwhile, 291 people are still missing. This major disaster has not only caused grief among the people of Sumatra, but also among all Indonesians.

Feelings of grief and concern have been expressed through acts of solidarity, ranging from donations to volunteering at the disaster sites. A number of people have chosen to channel their donations to Sumatra through Dompet Dhuafa. To date, Dompet Dhuafa has carried out numerous disaster response efforts, ranging from setting up public kitchens, distributing clean water, providing WiFi access points, to offering free laundry services for survivors. As of December 5, 2025, aid has reached 9,663 people in the three provinces affected by the disaster.

As part of recovery efforts, Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), is also collaborating with Tokopedia to distribute aid to disaster-affected residents in Lubuk Rayo, Lubuk Minturun Village, Padang City, West Sumatra. The flood disaster that occurred on Thursday (November 27, 2025) around 4:30 AM local time caused damage to residents’ homes and public facilities.

The Dompet Dhuafa team, together with representatives from Tokopedia, went directly to the location to assess needs and distribute aid. The aid focused on meeting basic needs and providing initial recovery support to the community.

The aid distributed included food packages, ready-to-eat meals, clean water, hygiene kits, bedding such as blankets and mattresses, baby clothes and supplies, basic health services and psychosocial support, as well as additional logistics according to field needs.

Ahmad Faqih, General Manager of ZIS Dompet Dhuafa, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and support of the community through the Tokopedia platform.

“This collaboration is clear evidence that the synergy between the community, philanthropic institutions, and the digital world can have a significant impact on those in need. We hope that this assistance can ease the burden on the residents of Lubuk Minturun and support their recovery process,” he said.

Meanwhile, Desi Anggrayeni, Head of Digital Good Tokopedia, emphasized that support for communities affected by disasters is part of the company’s commitment to providing empowering technology.

“Through the donation feature on Tokopedia, we strive to make it easier for the community to contribute to others. The distribution of aid with Dompet Dhuafa is a tangible form of digital mutual cooperation that has a direct impact on disaster victims,” she said.

The distribution of aid is carried out in coordination with local officials, local volunteers, and village officials so that the distribution is on target and reaches all affected residents.
