JAKARTA – Floods hit the Jakarta area and its surrounding buffer zones. The heavy rainfall of the past two days has caused flooding in a number of areas in the Greater Jakarta area. One of them is in the Civil Servants Cooperative Association (IKPN) Complex in Bintaro, South Jakarta. Although the rain subsided at night, floods as high as 3.5 to 4 meters were still inundating residents’ homes on Tuesday night (4/3/2025).
For this incident, until late at night, the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC) team and joint volunteers continued to evacuate flood survivors who were still trapped in their homes to safety. Especially for those who fall into the vulnerable category.
In the area, the electricity was turned off to prevent electrical short circuits. So that a number of points do not have access to electricity and need to be evacuated. In addition, residents who are still trapped in their respective homes since last night (Monday, 3/3/2025) are feared to have run out of food supplies. Therefore, the evacuation of trapped residents is an urgent matter.

“We are still trying to evacuate at IKPN Bintaro with a team of other joint volunteers. Praise God, the rain started to ease when the evacuation began at dusk. This made it easier for the team to evacuate the residents,” reported Ahmad Yamin, from the DMC Dompet Dhuafa team on site.
Not only evacuating, the volunteer team also helped deliver food packages for residents who were still trapped in their homes for iftar. Dekeu Kurniawan, Head of RW 4, IKPN Bintaro, explained the current flood conditions in the IKPN Bintaro Complex. According to Dekeu, although the rain tends to be light in the Bintaro area, the water discharge is still high.
“Heavy rain in the Ciputat area and its surroundings caused the Pesanggarahan River to overflow into the IKPN area (the location of the Pesanggarahan River is close to IKPN Bintaro),” explained Dekeu.

The number of residents affected by the flood in the Bintaro IKPN area is 625. Meanwhile, only half of the total number of affected residents have been successfully evacuated.
Let’s collaborate to participate in handling the Greater Jakarta flood. It’s time to take action with Dompet Dhuafa via digital.dompetdhaufa.org or Dompet Dhuafa Apps. Hopefully, the floods in Jakarta and its surroundings will recede soon, and the affected residents will be given patience in facing the difficult conditions caused by this disaster. (Dompet Dhuafa)
