WEST JAVA — Extreme weather and heavy rain that hit the Bogor Regency area on Sunday (03/02/2025) night caused flash floods that hit Cisarua District. One of the areas severely affected was Kampung Pensiunan, Tugu Village. As a result, at least 575 people were affected and had to evacuate to safer places.
This flash flood occurred due to high rainfall over a long period of time, triggering river overflows and muddy material that hit residential areas. Many residents’ houses were eventually submerged by water and even mud. In the midst of the Ramadan atmosphere, this disaster has added to the challenges for residents who now have to survive in evacuation centers with limited facilities. Not to mention the still erratic weather with fairly cold temperatures, which further worsens the conditions for the refugees.
Responding to these conditions, Dompet Dhuafa, through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) and the Community Service Institute (LPM), immediately went to the location to provide assistance to the affected residents. The humanitarian team aims to reduce the suffering of the survivors, from providing basic needs such as food and blankets to assistance during the recovery period.

On Monday (03/03/2025), the DMC team moved quickly to distribute emergency assistance in the form of warm blankets to survivors who took refuge in the mosque, which is now being used as the main evacuation post. In addition, the team also distributed ready-to-eat meals to residents who still have difficulty accessing food due to the impact of the floods.
“We distributed warm blankets to survivors who were displaced in evacuation sites. It is known that residents took refuge in mosques as evacuation posts,” said Eka Suwandi, one of the DMC Dompet Dhuafa personnel who came down to help the residents.
In addition to distributing aid, the DMC team also conducted a rapid assessment to determine the urgent needs of the affected residents. The results of the assessment showed that the main needs of the survivors at this time include ready-to-eat food for suhoor and iftar, sleeping equipment such as extra mattresses and blankets, and hygiene kits to keep them healthy while in evacuation.
“We continue to coordinate with the command post coordinator and the local government to ensure that the assistance provided is in accordance with the needs on the ground,” continued Eka.

The flood that occurred that night left thick mud in residents’ homes and public facilities. During the day, residents, assisted by volunteers, began to clean up the remaining mud that had inundated their homes. However, with high rainfall at night, many residents chose to stay at the evacuation post for fear of subsequent flooding.
Eka emphasized that his party would continue to monitor weather conditions and coordinate with the field team to anticipate the possibility of subsequent flooding. The most important thing at the moment is to ensure that residents remain safe and that their basic needs are met.

As a follow-up effort to help the affected residents, in the early hours of Wednesday (04/03/2025), the Dompet Dhuafa Community Empowerment Program Team deployed a Mobile Kitchen (Darling) to the evacuation site. This initiative aims to provide suhoor meals for survivors who are still staying at the post. A total of 234 servings of fast food were prepared by the LPM for suhoor for survivors at the refugee post. After that, the LPM team also plans to provide iftar meals so that they can continue to live Ramadan better even in difficult conditions.
“A total of 234 servings of ready-to-eat food for suhoor for survivors at the evacuation post. After this, we plan to provide food for iftar as well,” said Asep Suryana from LPM Dompet Dhuafa.

The team of volunteers is trying to ensure that the food provided is not only sufficient in quantity, but also nutritious so that the survivors remain healthy and strong during the post-flood recovery period. Of course, this action requires continuous support from the outside community. Dompet Dhuafa is committed to continuing its efforts to provide the best assistance to disaster-affected residents so that they can get through this difficult time more easily. In addition to direct assistance, the team is also planning medium to long-term programs to support the recovery of residents, including psychosocial assistance for children and families who have been traumatized by this disaster.
In the midst of this challenging situation, Dompet Dhuafa invites the entire community to participate in helping flash flood survivors in Cisarua. Support in the form of donations, volunteers, and prayers is needed so that residents can recover quickly and return to a peaceful Ramadan. Let’s help strengthen them by channeling the best assistance through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/siapsiagabencana. (Dompet Dhuafa)
