SOUTH TANGERANG – On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, was a day of gratitude and celebration for Dompet Dhuafa. On this date, the Islamic philanthropic organization that has made a significant impact in community empowerment celebrated its 32nd anniversary. A journey that began with a simple column in the daily newspaper Republika has grown into a beacon of philanthropreneurship in Indonesia. At this mature stage, Dompet Dhuafa is not merely celebrating a number but reaffirming its vision and commitment to uplifting the dignity of the underprivileged through more innovative and sustainable approaches: “Dompet Dhuafa Goes Communal Industry.”
The highlight of the Tasyakuran Catur Windu Dompet Dhuafa event, which began at 8:30 AM, was not merely a formal celebration. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of togetherness, appreciation, and the strengthening of vision that served as the event’s central theme. The opening ceremony was enlivened by performances of Calung and Angklung by “Women in Leadership,” a symbol of cultural richness and a reflection of the spirit of women’s empowerment, which is also one of Dompet Dhuafa’s key focuses.

A solemn atmosphere also enveloped the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a report from the Chair of the Milad Committee, Mrs. Anna Rahmawati, who summarized the series of Milad activities that had been held over the previous few days, including the success of the blood donation program and public discussion. She expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all parties who had provided support and assistance, both moral and material, enabling the activities to be carried out smoothly.
“This celebration is not merely a ceremony, but also a moment for the institution to reaffirm its commitment to entering a new era of zakat management that will have a greater and more sustainable impact through Dompet Dhuafa Goes Communal Industry, an industry owned by the beneficiaries,” said Mrs. Anna.
She continued, “With this resolve, we reaffirm that the noble goal we aim to achieve is the realization of a just and prosperous society,” but this time it will be achieved through an industrial culture known for its precision, efficiency, structure, discipline, and innovation.”

The key moment came with a speech from the Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, Mr. Ahmad Juwaini, who emphasized that 32 years is a phase of maturity and the beginning of a new chapter in the struggle. This year, Dompet Dhuafa launched the Communal Industry initiative as the culmination of its economic empowerment program.
This industry is part of six levels of empowerment, ranging from basic assistance to the formation of fair and sustainable business networks.
“It is not enough to simply count and be grateful for all these blessings. At its core, everything Dompet Dhuafa does is for Allah. We are merely humans striving to carry out His commands and acts of kindness, and Dompet Dhuafa is one of the bridges through which we do so. We extend our highest appreciation to the donors, beneficiaries, and collaborative partners. May we continue to uphold this trust and remain steadfast in our faith,” said Ahmad Juwaini.

Positive achievements were also reported by Ahmad Juwaini, who noted that by the first semester of 2025, fund collection reached Rp223.7 billion, an increase of 7.28% compared to the previous year. Significant increases were recorded in designated donations and endowments. To strengthen public trust, Dompet Dhuafa has also implemented various governance standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and ISO 37001 in its processes.
The concept of “Community Industry” highlighted in the 32nd anniversary celebration is the main focus. This reflects Dompet Dhuafa’s innovative phase, transitioning from merely providing charitable assistance (compassion) to building a self-sustaining economic ecosystem at the community level. Through this program, ZISWAF funds (zakat, infak, sedekah, and wakaf) are allocated to create business units or economic clusters managed by the beneficiaries themselves, enabling them to become not just recipients but productive economic actors.
“This communal industry encompasses all activities carried out by Dompet Dhuafa. And in this 32nd year, we aim to encourage and assist farmers. In this new innovation phase, Dompet Dhuafa is implementing the IKON (Communal Pineapple Processing Industry) program in West Java,” he added.

One of the most solemn moments during the event was the cutting of the tumpeng at its peak, symbolizing hopes for a better future and gratitude. Another heartfelt moment was the award presentation to alumni recipients of the Dompet Dhuafa scholarship and the 2025 Inspirational Empowerment Partners. The awards were presented to, among others, Ustaz Angga, Corps Dai of Mentawai Island, West Sumatra (Dakwah); Kang Ade, Chairman of the Lembang Village Farmers’ Group, West Java (Economy); Atiattul Muqtadir (Education), and Sunarti (Health).
This is not merely an award but a tangible validation of the achievements of Dompet Dhuafa’s empowerment programs. The stories of alumni beneficiaries who have now become empowered serve as inspiration, proving that the flow of goodness in philanthropreneurship can generate sustainable independence. Inspirational partners also stand as evidence of multi-stakeholder collaboration in achieving communal well-being.

Nanang Susanto, representative of Agrinesia as one of the recipients of the 2025 Inspirational Empowerment Partner Award, said, “We feel that what we have contributed has truly been implemented, which is why we are very happy to collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa. We hope that Dompet Dhuafa will continue to inspire and that this collaboration will continue so that it can spread its benefits as widely as possible.”
In line with that, Atiattul Muqtadir, an alumnus and beneficiary of Dompet Dhuafa’s Education Program, also said, “I feel that I have received more good things, inspiration, and lessons from Dompet Dhuafa than what I have contributed. For me, I will continue to be with Dompet Dhuafa, doing good deeds and being professional.”

This celebration event was also interspersed with entertaining and inspiring performances, such as the performance by the Al Syukro Teachers’ Band and the Jigo Band, adding to the festive spirit of togetherness. The recitation of prayers by the Sharia Supervisory Board of Dompet Dhuafa Republika, K.H. Izzudin Abdul Manaf, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., concluded the formal session with hopes and blessings.
Dompet Dhuafa’s 32-year journey has solidified its position as a credible and innovative institution. This 32nd anniversary is not merely a celebration of the past but also a hope for the future. With the vision of “Dompet Dhuafa Goes Communal Industry,” Dompet Dhuafa is ready to face global and domestic challenges, expand its impact, and continue to be an agent of change that plants hope for the mustahik in all corners of the country.
