WEST SUMATRA – On Friday (September 18, 2023), Dompet Dhuafa Singgalang launched Pilantrokopi, a modern coffee shop based on empowerment. This new café is located on Batang Kampar Street, Rimbo Kaluang, Kecamatan Padang. Pilantrokopi is a subsidiary of the business unit Koperasi Solok Sirukam, under the supervision of Dompet Dhuafa, managed from philanthropic funds.
This business unit is also part of Dompet Dhuafa’s philantropreneur program, which combines professionally managed entrepreneurship based on Islamic philanthropy. Furthermore, this program is an expansion of a program that has been running for six years, through the empowerment concept of Solok Sirukam coffee farmers, in collaboration with YBM BRILiaN.
Present at the Pilantrokopi launch event were Hendri Septa, the Mayor of Padang; Bambang Suherman, the Director of Dompet Dhuafa’s Programs; YBM BRILiaN executives; coffee farming benefit recipients; entrepreneurs; and the coffee community in the city of Padang.
Bambang Suherman, the Director of Dompet Dhuafa’s Programs, explained that the philanthropic aspect of this program involves the participation of individuals from marginalized backgrounds.
“They are provided with training and guidance, enabling them to undergo the coffee processing journey from post-harvest to becoming professional baristas, who will then be connected with coffee shop partners in West Sumatra,” he said.
Partnering with Dua Pintu Kopi and Roti Tenong, Pilantrokopi brings the historical value of Solok Sirukam Coffee and its impact on coffee farmers in Nagari Sirukam. The historical value and preservation of these values can be enjoyed in a cup of coffee, both in comfortable indoor and outdoor settings.

Visitors can not only enjoy coffee but also witness the coffee processing process in the roastery, and in the future, coffee processing and barista training classes will be opened. During the opening period until August 31, 2023, visitors or customers will receive a discount of Rp15,000 per transaction with no minimum order required.
