SUMATRA — Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), responded quickly to the floods that occurred on the island of Sumatra at the end of 2025. Starting from Aceh, North Sumatra, to West Sumatra, Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC activated its branch nodes spread across the three provinces.
In Aceh, DMC is providing logistical support to public kitchens and is working to gain access to the Pidie Jaya region. In North Sumatra, DMC is participating in efforts to clear mud that is disrupting transportation routes and residential areas.
In West Sumatra, DMC is participating in the evacuation of affected residents, opening public kitchens and warming stations, and clearing mud that is disrupting residents’ activities.
“We mourn the disasters that have struck several areas of Sumatra Island. We urge the community to remain alert and vigilant. We are currently coordinating and mobilizing volunteers from Dompet Dhuafa branches,” said the Head of DMC Dompet Dhuafa, Shofa Qudus.


Aceh Flood
The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) reported flooding conditions in 16 districts/cities (Pidie, Aceh Besar, Pidie Jaya, Aceh Tamiang, Southeast Aceh, West Aceh, Subulussalam, Bireuen, Lhokseumawe, East Aceh, Langsa, Bener Meriah, Gayo Lues, Aceh Singkil, North Aceh, and South Aceh) in Aceh Province.
During the period from November 18, 2025, at 07:00 WIB to November 27, 2025, at 16:00 WIB, the floods affected the homes of 33,817 families/119,988 people, and 6,998 families/20,759 people were displaced.
Acting Head of the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA), Fadmi Ridwan, stated that the declaration of the status was issued by each local government head based on the current conditions affecting their respective areas.
“The districts that have declared a state of emergency due to hydrometeorological disasters are Aceh Besar, Pidie, Aceh Utara, Singkil, Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya), Aceh Tengah, Aceh Tenggara, and Aceh Barat,” said Fadmi in an official statement published by BPBA (November 27, 2025).

Floods in North Sumatra
The floods that hit North Sumatra have caused 47 deaths. In addition, hydrometeorological disasters have also hit 13 regencies/cities in North Sumatra (Sumut) in the last few days.
“To date, a total of 123 victims have been found, including 47 fatalities,” said the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Tuahta Ramajaya Saragih, as reported by Antara (11/28/2025).
“The number of evacuees reported in four districts is as follows: 776 households in Mandailing Natal, 3,000 people in South Tapanuli, 240 households in Padangsidimpuan, and 19 households in North Tapanuli,” he added.

Floods in Padang
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padang recorded fallen trees in 13 locations, landslides in 6 locations, flooding in 18 locations, and flash floods in one location spread across 11 subdistricts. A total of 27,138 people or 10,811 households were affected.
The affected facilities were: 2 houses severely damaged; 61 houses moderately damaged; 17 houses slightly damaged; 1 prayer room severely damaged; 2 rice fields severely damaged due to flooding and being washed away; a 60-meter road was cut off, affecting residents’ access to transportation; 8 PDAM intakes were damaged, affecting clean water services; and 100,000 PDAM customers did not receive clean water supply due to the blockage of all PDAM intakes.
“We urge the public to immediately report any signs of danger, such as ground cracks or rising river water levels. The Padang City Government, together with the BPBD and all relevant agencies, will continue to work hard until the situation is safe again,” said Padang Mayor Fadly Amrans in an official statement from the Padang City BPBD (11/26/2025).

Floods in Padang Pariaman Regency
As reported by Republika (11/28/2025), floods also hit Padang Pariaman Regency, affecting 10,575 residents from 3,450 houses. One person was reported missing when the Koto Buruak bridge in Nagari Lubuk Alung, Lubuk Alung District collapsed. The flooding has affected 11 of the 17 subdistricts in Padang Pariaman.
Six religious facilities and one educational facility were submerged, while 17 homes were damaged, 13 homes were swept away, and three educational facilities sustained damage. Farmers’ fields and rice paddies were also affected.

Floods in Solok City
Floods also hit Solok City, submerging residential areas. The floods affected Tanjung Harapan District (Koto Panjang and Nan Balimo sub-districts) and Lubuk Sikarah District (Kampai Tabu Karambia, IX Korong, Aro IV Korong, Sinapa Piliang, VI Suku, and Tanah Garam sub-districts).
Based on preliminary data, 598 families or 3,362 people were affected, with 224 houses damaged.
