In collaboration with BWA, Dompet Dhuafa Launches Ship Hospital for Tunda Islanders

Dompet Dhuafa bekerja sama dengan BWA luncurkan Rumah Sakit Kapal untuk warga Pulau Tunda, Serang, Banten, pada 21-24 November 2024.

BANTEN — Dompet Dhuafa through Cuma-Cuma Health Services (LKC) Banten in collaboration with the Quran Waqf Agency (BWA), officially launched the Ship Hospital, an innovative medical facility equipped with various health services. This launch was part of the Social Health Service (Baksoskes) activity held on 21-24 November 2024 on Tunda Island, Serang, Banten.

This activity aims to improve access to health services for coastal communities that have been difficult to reach medical facilities. Thanks to zakat funds integrated with infaq, sadaqah, and waqf, LKC Dompet Dhuafa played an active role in this event by organising health education, including PHBS (Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour) and BHD (Disaster Living in the Family), as well as providing free health services to local residents.

‘Hopefully the whole journey and health service activities will run smoothly and can provide great benefits for the people of Tunda Island,’ said Dr Yeni Purnamasari, Technical Officer of Dompet Dhuafa.
In addition to the launch of the Ship Hospital, the health service event also includes health checks, medical consultations, provision of medicines, and health education to raise awareness of the importance of health. With the presence of the Ship Hospital, it is hoped that the medical needs of coastal communities can be better secured, and awareness of the importance of health can increase.

Faiq Nurrahman, one of the BWA staff said, not only health checks as in general, in this activity BWA collaborated with PDUI to provide dental services. The community enthusiastically welcomed this service. This is because on Tunda Island there are only mantras and midwives, dental services are not yet available on this island.
