Indonesian Ambulance Society Serves Fallen Victims in Gaza

PALESTINE — The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, has worsened as brutal attacks by the Israeli military have continued since the end of March 2025. Until now, Dompet Dhuafa, through local partners, is still struggling to evacuate and help the victims of Gaza who have fallen victim to the relentless attacks.

One of Dompet Dhuafa’s concrete efforts in helping the Palestinian people is to present an ambulance unit in collaboration with Wakaf Salman ITB. This ambulance has started operating on Wednesday (04/09/2025) by transferring a number of wounded and martyred victims from West Gaza to Al-Shifa Hospital, amid limited access and the threat of air strikes.

The Palestinian Emergency Knights Association expressed its deep appreciation to the people of Indonesia, especially Dompet Dhuafa and Wakaf Salman ITB, for their contributions in the midst of this very difficult situation.

“We would like to thank the people of Indonesia, especially Dompet Dhuafa and Wakaf Salman ITB, for their assistance during this difficult time of disaster that has befallen us Palestinians. Their generous assistance in the form of a new ambulance has begun to serve Palestinians in the western area of Jabaliya Camp in the north. This area has experienced a shortage of ambulances for the mobilization of victims, especially after many ambulance fleets were destroyed by Israeli attacks. God willing, this ambulance will begin to support emergency transportation services including transferring martyrs and wounded victims between hospitals,” said a representative of the association.

Based on the latest report as of April 9, 2025, the Gaza Ministry of Health recorded that 1,286 people had been martyred, including 510 children and 230 women. Meanwhile, more than 6,700 people were injured, half of whom were in critical condition. In fact, around 200 others are still trapped under the rubble.

Israel’s intensive attacks not only killed many civilians, but also destroyed vital facilities in Gaza. Al-Shifa Hospital was severely damaged, while Kamal Adwan Hospital and Europe Hospital are now housing patients at more than 300% capacity. The shortage of medicines, medical equipment, and the accumulation of bodies in hospitals illustrate Gaza’s current condition as a “medical hell”. More than 370,000 Gazans have also been forced to flee, losing their homes and having to survive without proper food and clean water.

Despite the constant challenges, Dompet Dhuafa’s commitment to supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people has never wavered. After previously sending humanitarian teams, medicines, setting up emergency mosques, and Ramadan parcels, the ambulance collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and Wakaf Salman ITB is now a form of continued effort to help the people of Gaza.

“One ambulance was destroyed, another one is here. That’s our spirit. Alhamdulillah, in the midst of the difficulties faced, the Dompet Dhuafa ambulance has started to be used and can help ease the burden on our brothers and sisters in Gaza,” said Akbar Saddam, Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa, in Jakarta, Thursday (10/04/2025).

Akbar continued, Dompet Dhuafa invites the people of Indonesia to continue to support and pray for the struggle of the people of Gaza, and to participate in a real humanitarian movement for Palestine. Currently, their condition is still far from safe. Let’s support their struggle by donating through digital.dompetdhuafa.org/donasi/jagapalestina. (Dompet Dhuafa)
