NORTH SUMATRA — Dompet Dhuafa North Sumatra Branch or DD Waspada together with Yayasan Pendidikan Islam Haji Masri Darul Ilmi Murni held an Orphan Eid celebration event at the YPIHM Darul Ilmi Murni Mosque, Deli Tua, Deli Tua District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Wednesday (2/8/2023). On this occasion, DD Waspada invited Elfadh Aqeela Zahidah Fadly, the champion of Hafiz Indonesia RCTI 2021, to attend to motivate the students of the foundation to memorize the Quran.
At that time, Aqeela was on a visit to several schools in Medan accompanied by her father, M Suherman Fadli. Not to be outdone, the father also shared his experiences from the parents’ side of how his story educates a child to memorize the Quran.
This first of four children at that time was approximately 11 years old. She managed to answer all the judges’ questions about the recitation of the Quranic verses quickly and correctly. For his part, Aqeela’s father, who is familiarly called Abuya, also said that Aqeela learned to memorize the Quran not from an early age.

“As for Aqeela, in the past, we as parents recognized how intelligent her brain was, we didn’t directly ask her as memorizers of the Quran since childhood,” said Abuya.
From his experience, Abuya said that actually everyone can memorize the Quran like her daughter. The key is, he continued, “We first recognize the ability of our brain, so that it is easy to memorize it. That’s also what I apply to my children, each of whom has different age stages in memorizing it.”
In addition to sharing experiences, Abuya and Aqeela also talked about the relationship between mathematics and the Quran. That actually, mathematics is closely related to the Quran. Those who memorize the Quran can have good mathematical skills as well. Abuya’s remarks were also proven by the challenge questions given by the participants to Aqeela who managed to answer mathematical calculations quickly.
Also present at this event was YPIHM Darul Ilmi Murni Consultant, H Deddy Sasmita. He really appreciates and welcomes the arrival of Dompet Dhuafa with Aqeela. Especially when he saw the students who were also so enthusiastic during the event.
“Very good, yes, this kind of event. Children can be motivated to memorize the Quran as well as Aqeela,” he said.
