Indro Warkop Says Sincerity, Not Size, Is His “Best Qurban” in Kurbanaval 1447 H

JAKARTA —-— “The key point of the Kurban sacrifice isn’t just about the size or number of animals offered, but about the sincerity of the heart,” said comedian Indro Warkop during the talk show “Kurbanaval: The Kurban Series 1447 H” at Cibis Park, South Jakarta, on Saturday (May 2, 2026).

“For me, this (the act of sacrifice) is about preparation. It means we prepare ourselves to face everything through sacrifice. Indeed, this is our ‘vehicle’ to reach paradise, but it all depends on intention and sincerity, because paradise is God’s right to choose who enters it. For me, sincerity is the most important thing,” he emphasized.

The man, who was present amidst a procession of motorcycles and traditional bicycles, shared his love for automobiles. According to him, this is not merely a hobby; more than that, it is a family legacy that he cherishes with great affection. However, he has his own definition of what constitutes the best vehicle to drive.

“A proper vehicle is one that is neither too much nor too little, because it is the vehicle that will take us to our destination,” said Indro.

Indro also added that he hopes such a “vehicle” will one day take him to meet the Creator.

Indro then shared his experience of having once been unsure about where to make his qurbani sacrifice. However, he eventually found and chose Dompet Dhuafa.

“Sometimes there’s a concern: is this sacrifice truly for the underprivileged? It turns out that the benefit of sacrificing through Dompet Dhuafa is that they’ve already surveyed which locations are most effective. And I’ve previously made a sacrifice in Myanmar through Dompet Dhuafa’s Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) Program,” explained the man affectionately known as Pakde Indro.

On the same occasion, Ali Bastoni, Chair of Dompet Dhuafa’s 1447 H Kurban Program, explained that the concept behind this year’s “The Kurban Series” theme is indeed intended to provide the public with options for preparing the best “vehicle” for their journey to the afterlife.

“Qurbani is our ‘vehicle’ to paradise. Since there are many types of vehicles, through The Kurban Series we invite the public to prepare the best ‘vehicle’ for us in the hereafter,” explained Mas Ali.

He also noted that Dompet Dhuafa aims to reach two million beneficiaries through the Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) program in remote areas so that local farmers can also benefit economically. The reach is extensive, covering 21 provinces and extending to international destinations such as Somalia, Sudan, Palestine, and Myanmar.

Adding to this, Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of professional management of the THK program through the “5 Guarantees of Kurban” principle. He also highlighted special programs such as Kurban Express and distributions to disaster-affected areas in three provinces.
