JAKARTA – Jakhumfest 2023 closed with “Sound of Humanity” (SOH), a treat from well-known musicians and bands in Indonesia. One of them is Marginal, the history of punk in Indonesia cannot be separated from the name of the music group Marginal, which was established in 1997.
Marginal, located at the Bloc Philatelic Post in Jakarta (29/1/2023), echoed the Sound of Humanity stage by spreading the spirit of sharing. Bumi Mantra, IBUku, IBUmu, IBUmi Kita, Luka Kita, Janji, and Rencong Marencong were all performed.
“Let us spread love together to support one other, to fill each other, of course, as living beings, our social beings must be able to walk together,” stated Bob.
“How are you, the one swept away by the storm? How are you doing, the sunburned? How are you, the one who hurts? How are you, the one in the cold? I’ve always been there for you, may you always be there. Rencong Marencong.”

A piece of song lyrics entitled ‘Rencong Marencong’ is the fifth song performed by Marginal, the boisterous cheers of the audience broke out as the song progressed. The visual background of the Cianjur earthquake video and the actions of Dompet Dhuafa volunteers when evacuating victims on the big screen on the stage adds a sense of strength to the Cianjur Earthquake fighters.
According to the punk indie band, Jakhumfest 2023 is an extraordinary humanitarian event that can provide inspiration and energy to the community to share with each other.
“Yes, this event is an extraordinary event, which means trying to bring together all elements of society regardless of what background, what religion, what ethnicity and hopefully can provide inspiration and energy to share the spirit of dompet dhuafa to be able to share with each other,” said Marginal’s vocalist to Dompet Dhuafa.

Marginal formed a kindness synergy with Dompet Dhuafa to disseminate advantages for Cianjur’s recovery and the Indonesia Listening initiative. This year’s Sound of Humanity event will be unique in that each musician performing will be accompanied by a Sign Language Interpreter in conjunction with Silang.id, allowing deaf friends who watch to share in the excitement and enthusiasm of SOH.
“Because of the spirit of sharing with a concept like this, people will be happy to be happy without compulsion, they look happy with their faces,” Bob added.
Bob further said that the humanitarian event, Sound of Humanity is not just a music festival but more than that, Jakhumfest as a place to stay in touch, synergize and share with each other.
“Yes, you have to have a lot of colors to do something, especially the younger generation now. Especially the situation before this, the pandemic for so many years, there was a longing to come to events, meet friends, meet new friends there, stay in touch, share experiences, that’s cool,” said Bob.
