When is the deadline for Eid al-Adha sacrifices? As Muslims who will celebrate the Eid al-Adha holiday, we should know the right time to sacrifice animals and also the deadline for sacrificing animals so that our sacrifice is in accordance with Islamic law.

Eid al-Adha Sacrifice Deadline

The scholars state that the Eid al-Adha sacrifice deadline is after the Eid al-Adha prayer on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah and ends at sunset on the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah. Within four days, Muslims can perform the sacrifice of the qurban, namely, Eid al-Adha and the three days of Tashreeq. Going beyond these days is not a sacrifice of the qurban and is past its time. Moreover, if you slaughter an animal for the qurban on the 14th of Dhu al-Hijjah, it cannot be considered a sacrifice of the qurban because the time period has ended.

The Importance of Understanding the Time Limit for the Sacrifice of the Eid al-Adha Qurban

As Muslims who obey the commands of Allah SWT, we should understand the time limit for the Eid al-Adha sacrifice and also understand the sharia correctly so that our worship is valid and accepted by Allah SWT. Understanding the deadline for the sacrifice makes us disciplined and obedient to the rules that have been given. In addition, we must not ignore the days that have been recommended for the deadline for the sacrifice.

From Anas bin Malik, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever slaughters (the sacrificial animal) before the Eid prayer, he slaughters for himself, and whoever slaughters after the Eid prayer, his sacrifice is complete and acts in accordance with the Sunnah of the Muslims.” (Bukhari).

The Prophet also gave instructions regarding the wrong time for slaughtering sacrificial animals, namely, if it is done before the Eid al-Adha prayer, the sacrifice is not valid. So the timing is very important that we must pay attention to. If in our daily life we only worship the five daily prayers, there is a time limit for when the prayer ends, so too the sacrifice has an end time.
