YOGYAKARTA —-— Thousands of residents of Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas flooded Malioboro Street, specifically in front of the Jogja Library Center, on Wednesday (12/17/2025) evening. The reason was that on that evening, there was a “Ngamen Untuk Sumatra” event presented by musicians and artists from Yogyakarta. The event, initiated by Daru Jaya, also known as “Ndarboy Genk,” brought together Yogyakarta musicians and artists to hold a music performance to raise funds for disaster survivors in Sumatra. This time, Ndarboy Genk partnered with Dompet Dhuafa to distribute the collected aid.
On that night, the Ngamen Untuk Sumatra event successfully united the residents of Yogyakarta and its surroundings to show their concern for their brothers and sisters in Sumatra. Opened with a performance by Angklung Arieska, the event became even more lively as one artist after another took to the stage. In addition to Ndarboy Genk himself, he also invited Damara De, DJ Paws, Banditoz Yaow 86, Gantaz, Tedjo Badut, Sri Khrisna, and Sadewok. In one of the performances, Cucu Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Marrel Suryokusumo, also rapped on stage.

“This is a movement of concern for Sumatra from us, the musicians and artists of Yogyakarta. Although the preparations were last minute, many musicians, artists, and a number of parties helped, including Dompet Dhuafa, which will be our distribution partner. We accept all donations, whether in the form of goods or money. Ngamen Untuk Sumatra is just the beginning, because we are also preparing a QRIS donation for friends who want to participate, which will remain open until December 20,” said Daru Jaya, also known as Ndarboy Genk, to the Dompet Dhuafa team.
Ndarboy also added that with the collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa, the collected aid can be distributed immediately and accurately to our friends in Sumatra who are in need of our help. For the live donation collection at Ngamen Untuk Sumatra in Malioboro, a number of items and cash were collected, which will be directly sent by the Mabes Balker team from Ndarboy Genk to the Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta Branch office.

Meanwhile, from the busking, we collected Rp29,394,328 and various items donated by friends who were present. I will update the QRIS regularly, as donations are still open. There was also an auction of musical instruments used in yesterday’s busking. For the auction and QRIS donations, friends can monitor Instagram @ndarboy_genk and @dompetdhuafaorg or @dompetdhuafadiy. Pokok’e, thank you for your donations and participation. It is certainly trustworthy, and I will oversee it until distribution,” added Ndarboy.
As of the time this news was uploaded on Wednesday (12/24/2025), donations for Sumatra collected from Ngamen Untuk Sumatra, both in cash and QRIS, have totaled Rp64.7 million.
