JAKARTA — The Community Service Agency (LPM) Dompet Dhuafa commemorated Kartini Day by hosting an interactive panel discussion on women’s empowerment on Monday (April 21, 2025). The event featured various practitioners, small business owners, and influencers actively involved in the Majelis Ta’lim Ummahat (PMTU) program, an initiative by Dompet Dhuafa aimed at strengthening the economic capacity of women through community-based initiatives.
Juperta Panji Utama, Deputy Director 1 of the Social, Humanitarian, and Da’wah Programs at Dompet Dhuafa, emphasized in his opening remarks that Kartini’s spirit of struggle should be translated into concrete actions that support women’s progress in all aspects of life. PMTU was designed as a platform for empowering women from Majelis Ta’lim, particularly in underprivileged areas. Beyond providing business capital, the program equips participants with entrepreneurial skills and mentoring to help them grow into independent business owners free from the shackles of usury and unproductive loans.
“The Kartini Day momentum is not merely a ceremony but must serve as a catalyst for expanding women’s roles in social, spiritual, and national life,” he stressed.

This talk show also served as a gathering and collaboration event for Muslim women who are currently striving to build businesses from home. In a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, participants shared experiences, sought inspiration, and learned directly from speakers who have already paved the way in entrepreneurship.
One of the main speakers, Indari Mastuti—a prolific writer and founder of the Ibu-Ibu Doyan Bisnis community—emphasized the importance of strengthening marketing and financial management aspects. According to her, what matters most is not just producing goods, but how those products can be sold and well-received by the community.
“It’s not just about producing goods, but how those products can be marketed effectively, and how business finances are managed in a healthy and sustainable manner,” she said.
For the participants, this activity is not only about expanding their knowledge but also opening up opportunities for transformation in their lives. As felt by Haeroni, one of the participants from a coastal area, he said, “I learned how to sell through WhatsApp and how to avoid usury in business. This is very useful for me who is just starting a small business.”

Meanwhile, Sugiati, PMTU Coordinator in the Cilincing area, said that this program was born out of concern for the economic conditions of mothers in her area. Her party wants mothers in her neighborhood to have their own income, especially by processing potential marine products such as fish and shrimp, which are abundant in the area.
Through this initiative, Dompet Dhuafa hopes that the religious study group will not only serve as a place for religious discussions but also as a driving force for family economic development. PMTU represents a concrete step in continuing Kartini’s spirit—empowering women to become independent and actively contribute to community development from the grassroots level. (Dompet Dhuafa)
