Providing Non-Stop Health Services at the Cianjur Earthquake Location, LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team Wins Humanitarian Award from the Indonesian Ministry of Health

CIANJUR, WEST JAVA – The Health Crisis Center, Ministry of Health or Kementerian Kesehatan (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) gave a humanitarian award (penghargaan kemanusiaan) to the Dompet Dhuafa Free Health Emergency Response Team or Respons Darurat Kesehatan (RDK) Layanan Kesehatan Cuma-Cuma (LKC) for the services provided to survivors at the Cianjur Earthquake disaster site.

This award was given by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia at the Cianjur Earthquake Disaster Emergency Response Debriefing event and awarded to Health Volunteers held at the BBPK Ciloto Field, Cianjur Regency, West Java on Monday (16/1/2023).

Ministry of Health considers that Dompet Dhuafa through its LKC RDK Team has been very committed to carrying out humanitarian efforts during the emergency response to the earthquake that rocked Cianjur since November 21, 2022 until now.

LKC Dompet Dhuafa’s Health Emergency Response Team or Tim Respons Darurat Kesehatan (RDK) won a humanitarian award from the Indonesian Ministry of Health

In this award, the LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team is included in the category of medical teams that come to respond quickly, which is under 12 hours after the earthquake occurred.

Acting Ministry Health Crisis Center, dr. Sumarjaya, SKM, MM, MFP, C.F.A gave this humanitarian award directly to the representative of the LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team, who is also the Person in Charge of Response during the disaster in Cianjur, namely Muhammad Faisal.

The Role of RDK LKC Dompet Dhuafa in Disaster Sites

According to Faisal, since the beginning of the earthquake disaster in Cianjur, the LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team has immediately responded by sending several health teams to the disaster site.

In fact, until now the LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team still survives at the disaster site during the transition period and reconstruction recovery and continues to strive to provide health services to Cianjur earthquake survivors.

“So far, we are attempting to stay afloat while delivering health services to Cianjur earthquake victims. RDK has been counted for 55 days and continues to provide health services to cianjur earthquake victims.” Faisal said.

Furthermore, Faisal described the various efforts carried out by the LKC Dompet Dhuafa RDK Team while participating in the Cianjur earthquake tragedy.

“During the Cianjur earthquake disaster, the RDK Team responded with ambulance services to refer back patients, 24-hour medical posts, disaster nutrition services, mobile health services, health promotion, and a series of health cluster coordination meetings,” Faisal explained.
