BOGOR, WEST JAVA — In order to produce a capable generation, Dompet Dhuafa initiated an Inspiration Class for SMART Ekselensia Indonesia students, entitled “Sharing Inspiration Through Professions” with public figure Ricky Harun. SMART Ekselensia Indonesia itself has a vision to become a model school that produces graduates with Islamic personalities, leaders, independence, achievement, and empowerment.
The Inspiration Class, which was held at Al Insan Hall, Dompet Dhuafa’s Human Development Institute (LPI) on Thursday (8/3/2024), was presented to inspire SMART Ekselensia students through the story of Ricky Harun’s life journey, how he built a career, to foster the enthusiasm of students in the world of entrepreneurship. In addition, this Inspiration Class is also a visitation of Dompet Dhuafa’s education program.
Abdul Halim as the Executive Development School of the Umar Usman Education Foundation revealed that this activity was greeted with enthusiasm by the students.
“Alhamdulillah, the SMART Ekselensia students were very enthusiastic. Then they were also inspired by what had been told and conveyed by Mas Ricky Harun related to his life experience. How he pursued his career, from starting college to deciding to become an artist, and Ricky Harun also started a business as an entrepreneur. And this is the mandate or hope of Mas Ricky Harun to SMART students to be able to build an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age,” said Halim.

Ricky, an actor and entrepreneur, shared inspiring personal stories of his career journey, how he faced challenges, and strategies to overcome them. In addition, he also emphasized the importance of having passion in carrying out his profession. Ricky also shared his experiences of career failures or difficulties, and how those experiences became valuable lessons for future growth and progress.
“It’s really important that we develop ourselves to achieve a career. So first, determine where you want to go. So from now on, start preparing everything to get to that goal. What do you have to go through, what do you have to get the knowledge, where to look, the important thing is that the goal is there, and of course continue to learn and continue to explore what we are going to,” said Ricky Harun.
Furthermore, Ricky Harun also opened a discussion about opportunities and challenges in the chosen profession. As well as, strategies to overcome these obstacles. He also conveyed the positive impact of the profession on society or the surrounding environment as a form of significant contribution.
“Overcoming challenges is learning by doing. When challenges come, we will definitely know the solution. But for sure, we must pass the challenge and get the challenge. Because when we have challenges, we get more enthusiasm to get through it so that we can get our goals,” Ricky explained.
He also added that when you have a lot of followers, it is important to control your emotions and keep yourself from falling into the trap of being arrogant.
“When you have a lot of followers, it raises the question, are they just looking at photos or is it more than that? We have to be responsible for our influence, even in the afterlife. Therefore, we need to think about how we can involve our followers to participate and educate them too,” he added.
The class became even more interactive when entering the question and answer session. Here, SMART Ekselensia students were allowed to ask questions directly to Ricky Harun. One of the questions was submitted by Rafa Azkia, an 11th grade student of SMART Ekselensia. Rafa asked about several conditions such as economic constraints that cause someone to be able to make money, how to build a business, but not reduce one’s value to excel in school.
“In such conditions, such people are not obliged, but because of their circumstances, they make something to help themselves and their families. Learning also does not become lazy, looking for extras is also okay but yes the learning side is reduced, don’t even be busy looking for it but the results are not for learning,” answered the actor who is familiarly called Kirun.
Not only that, Kirun also gave appreciation to several participants who asked questions by giving merchandise from his brand. In closing, he advised SMART Ekselensia students.
“Don’t pursue what we want, but pursue what God wants,” he concluded.
Andrean Pangestu, one of the Inspiration Class participants also expressed his excitement, because he could meet directly with his idol. He also admitted that he got a lot of insight in pursuing a career from a Ricky Harun.
“I’m really happy, Ricky Harun is cool. Kak Ricky is full of dedication and very top. We must remain steadfast and patient in trying, and keep remembering Allah. So Kak Ricky during his career journey did not escape by remembering Allah. I am very inspired,” said Andre. (Dompet Dhuafa)
