JAKARTA – The spirit of sharing blessings continues in the third week of Ramadan. On Thursday (20/03/2025), Dompet Dhuafa together with Maybank Syariah shared blessings in the form of school equipment and education funds to orphans at the Nur Karomah Orphanage, Sawangan, Depok.

Dompet Dhuafa and Maybank Syariah distributed school supplies to 30 children, including notebooks, backpacks, stationery, and so on, as well as education funds worth IDR 600,000 per child. The assistance targets children who have school fee problems due to inadequate family finances.

Also present were the Head of Regional Retail Shariah Business at Maybank Syariah, Ade Wibowo, and the Partnership Manager at Dompet Dhuafa, Utammi Sri Lestari, in the warm atmosphere that afternoon. Together with the Chair of the Nur Karomah Foundation in Depok, Muhammad Khoirumam, and the children, they took turns sharing stories and experiences related to education and the future.

Utammi conveyed that all great things start from consistent small steps. Like Dompet Dhuafa, which was originally a small column in the Republika newspaper, to help people in need. Through this simple forum, Utammi encouraged 30 orphans to continue their education and achieve their dreams.

“Alhamdulillah, today we distributed 30 packages of school supplies and educational funds for orphans. Hopefully this will be a small step that will have a broad impact on the education and future of these children,” said Utammi.

Continuing with Utammi, Ustaz Khoirumam also shared a story about the condition of the Nur Karomah Foundation, which is struggling to meet the needs of orphans, especially in terms of education.

“In the past, this foundation was just a small building, then there were many orphans in need of education, so I ended up selling some personal belongings and expanding the building. Here too, there are many children who find it difficult to pay for school because their family’s finances are tight. Thank you Dompet Dhuafa and Maybank Syariah for sharing your happiness with all of us,” he explained.

The distribution that day was the result of Maybank Syariah’s benevolent funds to help young people who still have to struggle with economic difficulties, especially in obtaining an education, explained Ade Wibowo.

“Hopefully in the future this collaboration of kindness with Dompet Dhuafa can bring other benefits in the future,” said Ade.
One of the beneficiaries, Egi (13), looked happy. This is because the boy, who aspires to be a train driver, previously had no time to go to school because he lacked the funds for education.

“I am very happy today. I was able to get school supplies and additional funds for school. Previously, I couldn’t afford to pay for school, so I had time off. I just waited for others to leave and return from school. My mother is indeed economically constrained. I used to aspire to enter an Islamic boarding school, but because there was no money, I ended up in an orphanage. Thank you Dompet Dhuafa and Maybank Syariah,” explained Egi.

Just like Egi, Rara (13) also said that she and her family were in an unstable economic situation. Her grandmother and mother did not have educational funds for her, so she temporarily lived at the Nur Karomah Orphanage.

“Because my mother and grandmother don’t have the money, I’m staying at the orphanage for the time being. I’ve been here for a year and today I received school equipment and education funds. Thank you, this has boosted my enthusiasm to study even harder,” said Rara.

This program is one of a series of acts of kindness between Dompet Dhuafa and Maybank Syariah during Ramadan, targeting a total of 90 beneficiaries in Jabodetabek, Lampung and East Java. (Dompet Dhuafa)
