V13W becomes the perspective of Dompet Dhuafa’s extended family

V13W Dompet Dhuafa

BOGOR, WEST JAVA — Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, Ahmad Juwaini explained Dompet Dhuafa’s perspective as a community empowerment institution. This perspective is summarised in an abbreviation (abbreviation) V13W, or can be read as VIEW. This V13W is a reflection of every behaviour and programmes undertaken by everyone in the Dompet Dhuafa family.

Wrapped in an event entitled “Temu Keluarga Besar Dompet Dhuafa”, on Wednesday (6/3/2024) at Zona Madina, Bogor, this event became a place to strengthen Dompet Dhuafa’s values for its employees. In addition, this is also an opportunity for Dompet Dhuafa people to strengthen the relationship between each other, which is then called a family that looks at one goal, namely empowerment.

Ahmad Juwaini dissects the meaning of V13W, which is 1 (one) vision (goal) and 3 (three) ways (path). The vision in question is empowerment, which is then carried out through three ways, namely zakat management, waqf management, and social enterprises. Since its inception, Dompet Dhuafa has been consistent with this vision.

A joint prayer for the blessing and blessing of Allah Swt towards Dompet Dhuafa and the people and partners of the extended family.

While the three roads are meant to reaffirm that Dompet Dhuafa is a zakat institution whose job is of course to manage zakat funds from Muslims. According to Ahmad, the essence of managing zakat is to distribute and utilise.

Then the second way, namely managing waqf, then the essence of the business is to develop assets and distribute the benefits. As with the main concept of waqf, which is to hold the principal and distribute the proceeds of its management. This second way is then paired with the third, which is in the form of management in the form of social business. In this “way”, Dompet Dhuafa endeavours to make a profit and maintain the sustainability of its benefits.

“Well, these three ways are what we call philanthropreneurship. That is, philanthropic activities that are complemented by entrepreneurship. So philanthropreneurship is an interpretation of the three main ways in which we carry out community empowerment,” he emphasised.

First, every Dompet Dhuafa person is required to be able to awaken the spirit of the ethos of struggle in each of them. Dompet Dhuafa wants its people to be truly wholehearted in working filled with a fighting spirit to empower. Of course this cannot be separated from being intended as a form of worship to Allah Swt.

Second, strengthening the philanthropreneur spirit. This spirit is what makes Dompet Dhuafa’s people grow and develop. Therefore, Dompet Dhuafa continues to mobilise activities that have an aspect on self-development in the field of entrepreneurship. According to Ahmad, when it comes to empowerment, philanthropy and entrepreneurship are two sides that cannot be separated. Both are like two sides of a coin that always go hand in hand.

Third, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation. After all, from time to time, Dompet Dhuafa continues to strive to make every activity able to see how much its achievements and goals are. This is done by creating indicators for each activity carried out. Dompet Dhuafa does not just do the work, but also really observes the sides of its achievements.

Fourth, increasing the service level of all activities. This is to ensure that the institution continues to provide the best service as expected by the community. By providing good service, Dompet Dhuafa will increasingly have a good reputation and trust. The institution will always identify, take corrective action, and make adjustments to ensure good service.

Fifth, improving behaviour based on GRC (Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance). In addition to being guided by Dompet Dhuafa’s values, every Dompet Dhuafa person must also be able to relate what is done carefully in accordance with regulations. Then measure it with the GRC concept so that what is done is really good in accordance with Governance, Risk Management, and compliance with existing regulations.

Parni Hadi also gave directions and messages to all amil in the Dompet Dhuafa family.

Sixth, increased digitalisation. Dompet Dhuafa has been digitalising since 2005. This digitisation process continues to follow the times. Dompet Dhuafa’s main programmes such as Tebar Zakat Fitrah, Tebar Hewan Kurban, to donation payment services to distribution have been carried out digitally. Likewise, in aspects of documentation and archiving.

This digitalisation is strengthened by the presence of DD Apps – Dompet Dhuafa’s mobile application. However, Ahmad calls on Dompet Dhuafa’s people to continue to be literate with all forms of digital developments that run so fast. That way, Dompet Dhuafa will continue to be able to adapt, so that it can continue to spread many benefits.

Seventh, increasing the integrity of Dompet Dhuafa’s people. This is very important and even the first value in Dompet Dhuafa. Integrity must be maintained by every Dompet Dhuafa person and the parties concerned. Especially avoiding the temptation of 3A, namely wealth, throne and women / men. Every asset or fund in Dompet Dhuafa is a trust. Then every rupiah will be accounted for. Likewise, the position held is a mandate. Ahmad emphasised that misusing it would damage and injure many parties. (Dompet Dhuafa)
