JAKARTA – With a journey that is not short, Dompet Dhuafa as a humanitarian organization based on zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (Ziswaf) continues to make transparency efforts to the public. One of them is through Public Expose 2024 through the annual agenda of the Indonesia Humanitarian Summit (I-HitS) which was held on Thursday (01/23/2024) at Usmar Ismail Hall, Kuningan, South Jakarta.
I-HitS 2024 was an opportunity for the Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Board, Ahmad Juwaini, who represented all stakeholders to explain the progress and presence of Dompet Dhuafa in alleviating poverty, especially in Indonesia throughout the past 2024.
Ahmad Juwaini said that in 2024 Dompet Dhuafa tried to build a philanthropreneur idea that was intended to develop the independence of each beneficiary. Not only direct assistance, through the empowerment program Dompet Dhuafa is committed to reviving the community so that it is empowered and can support itself.
“One of the important things is that we develop an understanding of philanthropreneurship. This departs from the awareness of institutions that are increasingly managing waqf, so they need independence. This is also part of our goal to implement self-reliance in the community through empowerment programs, both through waqf and zakat,” Juwaini said in front of the audience consisting of national figures, donors and collaborator partners.

Throughout 2024, Dompet Dhuafa has raised IDR 379,377,085,219 and distributed direct and indirect assistance totaling IDR 418,205,845,531. With a record increase in the absorption rate of 15.42 percent, from the previous figure which reached 99.58 percent in 2023. The increase in distribution in 2024, which reached 115 percent, was due to the remaining program balance at the beginning of 2024.
Dompet Dhuafa managed to distribute as much as Rp418 billion to 3.26 million beneficiaries from all corners of the archipelago, even abroad. The absorption rate of distribution in 2024 reached 115 percent. Of course this distribution rate has increased, from 2023 which reached 99.58 percent. This data shows that Dompet Dhuafa is one of the zakat institutions with very effective performance according to the Allocation to Collection Ratio of the Zakat Core Principle.
Of the five pillars of Dompet Dhuafa, the most beneficiaries are in the Humanitarian Social Program which reaches 2.7 million people. Then followed by the Da’wah and Culture Program with 314,400 people, the Health Program with 186,166 people, the Education Program with 46,211 people and the Economic Program with 5,804 people.
Juwaini continued, in 2024 Dompet Dhuafa seeks to increase its focus on cultural issues. Collaboration with cultural groups has also increased, such as PARFI 56, Provokas! and other cultural groups. According to him, the spirit of empowerment can be embedded in cultural transformation. So that in the future it can flow organically in every person.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa’s attention has also increased on the issue of the food crisis with the launch of Lapor Lapar, in collaboration with MSMEs as food producers who contribute to alleviating the hunger crisis in Indonesia.
Not only that, in response to the rampant issue of online loans (pinjol) that oppress the lives of Indonesian people, Dompet Dhuafa presents the Mufakat Program (Useful Business Capital for the Community) in 2024. Through this program, Dompet Dhuafa provides interest-free business capital loans to victims of pinjol.
Then followed by the Vocational Program and Entrepreneurship Assistance for victims of Termination of Employment (PHK) which peaked due to the recent sluggish economic situation. This program collaborates with partner Usman Umar Business Campus, aiming for victims of layoffs to explore with new skills.

Dompet Dhuafa’s increasingly widespread work is demonstrated by the acquisition of ISO 9001: 2015 & ISO 27001: 2022 certifications exactly two days before the I-HitS event took place. This certification signifies international standards relating to anti-bribery quality management and information security.
“The higher the funds that the community entrusts, the more integrity should be maintained. Although there is an increase in distribution of Rp7 billion this year, we and other zakat institutions still have many challenges. There are still 25 million poor people in Indonesia, and 13 percent of them are Dompet Dhuafa beneficiaries, “said Juwaini. (Dompet Dhuafa)
